Story

Mentorship and Purpose
‘‘I am Kafui Ansi, a level 400 student, studying English and Political Science (BA). I joined DreamsAfrica through John Mark… a lot of people talk about purpose but they don’t really take you through the steps to find your purpose but with DreamsAfrica, it is different. They teach you how to… not just give you the steps but practical ways of knowing your purpose. And, I must say it has really influenced the way I live my life of late. I now set weekly goals, I now set daily goals and it’s been helpful... So, anyone who wants to join DreamsAfrica should just join but you must join with commitment to benefit much…’’

Mentorship and Purpose
‘‘Hello Everyone, my name is Emmanuel Yorke and being a protégé at DreamsAfrica has been of great importance in my life… It’s been of great help and I have grown to understand that, ‘‘a man that stands for nothing actually falls for anything.’’ With that, I have got to discover my purpose, I have found so many potentials in me that I had no idea of and our mentors have been of great help to us. They’ve shown us what to do right. With all the information we had with had no directives, I’ve have the directives to implement them… I will entreat all of you out there to join DreamsAfrica and you wouldn’t regret being a part of it. Thank you’’

Mentorship and Purpose
‘‘I am a mentee at DreamsAfrica. Joining DreamsAfrica, I have come to learn so much especially about ‘Purpose’. Personally, I have had problems finding exactly what I am here on earth for but coming to DreamsAfrica, I have realized that I am not an alien. There are actually people who are there who have similar issues… I have learnt how to bring things together and also discover my purpose…. I have learnt that, there are a lot of things to consider when it comes to discovering your purpose... I don’t know how to manage time. But coming here, I can show you, I can so plan my day… I will advise every young person to join DreamsAfrica... I have learnt a lot and I am still learning... Come discover your purpose, come and learn how to be a great leader. Thank You. -- Sroeda Atiamoah, University of Ghana, Level 300, BA. Information Studies and History.

Mentorship, Career and Sense of Direction
My name is Agnes Amankwa, a level 300, B.A. Psychology major student. I got to know about DreamsAfrica through a friend... One thing I have learnt is that, …everything I am going though in life is meant to build me up to be a better person… So, joining DreamsAfrica has been one of the greatest experiences in my life. At first, I didn’t really know what I will be doing after school… coming here has directed me to know what I will do after here and why I need to go through some of the things I am going through now. I recommend DreamsAfrica to everyone who seems lost like I was so that they will know what to do with their lives and they will get the push in the right directions. Thank you.’’

Mentorship, Career and Sense of Direction
‘‘I joined DreamsAfrica because I was invited to join. I didn’t join with an expectation but then, after the series of seminars I have been through, I realised there are things I personally don’t know about myself… DreamsAfrica has really had an impact on me in the sense that, with DreamsAfrica, I have been given a sense of direction. At first, I was just there being blown by the wind, whichever way it goes, I follow. But with DreamsAfrica, I have my sense of direction. I have my focus… I will recommend DreamsAfrica to anybody or everyone who wants to appreciate life, who wants to appreciate the gift of leadership… I was lost and I got myself found here... Thank you -- Agnes Amuzu, University of Ghana Business School, Level 300, Public Administration.

Mentorship, Character and Leadership
‘‘Hello! I am Mariam, studying Accounting. I have also learnt a lot from DreamsAfrica. It actually pushed me to do certain things that I have done. I joined because I was given an opportunity to give a presentation on potential. So, after I gave the presentation on potential, I sat and reflected and I was like… even though I presented on that, I haven’t achieved that. And, by starting the process, I took the bold step to run for the presidency of my Hall, African Union Hall, which by God almighty’s help I won. It’s a step I have taken and it’s a process for me to realize or achieve whatever it is that God has set out for me to do… it’s not a onetime something. To maximize your potential, it is a step by step process and when you come to DreamsAfrica, they teach you that. I have learnt how to set priorities and goals and it’s helped me a lot. Yes! And I will entreat everyone to come and join because we have a personal relationship over here. There is a one to one relationship… because we are a family here… and you learn so much. so come and join DreamsAfrica.’’ Miriam Awal Mohammed, University of Ghana, President, African Union Hall

Mentorship, Character and Leadership
‘‘I’ve been with DreamsAfrica for a while and I must say that it has really developed me as a leader. There are some qualities that I never thought that I had but through DreamsAfrica, I have been able to discover them and I am really using them. Through DreamsAfrica, I have learnt how to be proactive. I have realized that among my Colleagues, I tend to stand out. At DreamsAfrica, we believe so much in integrity. This has also become part of my values such that, everywhere I go, I try to be a leader with integrity. You should join DreamsAfrica. I know there are lots of leadership seminars and there are lots of leadership organizations but what makes DreamsAfrica different is the values that we hold on to. It’s the passion behind the vision that drives this whole organization… we are interested in developing leaders. We are interested in getting people to do the right things’’ --- Phil

Mentorship, Character and Leadership
‘‘I am Maccarious, a level 400 student studying Biochemical engineering. I joined DreamsAfrica through an invitation from a friend. He invited me to come for their first program and from there, I picked it up. I saw that DreamsAfrica was where I could learn good stuff concerning leadership because I am into students’ leadership already. And for the past 5 weeks, they have taken us through a lot of stuff which I didn’t know before. Example, writing a personal mission statement, setting up daily goals and the likes… In fact, it has impacted me in a way that where I am currently serving, I have effected some changes which are helping me to move the association forward… I will recommend to everyone who will want to go into leadership, students’ leadership, any leadership that you can think of right now… the process that DreamsAfrica offers everyone is very inspiring. In fact, you get to meet a lot of people. Thank you’’--

Mentorship, Character and Leadership
‘‘I have held some positions in life and I realized that I always fell short at some point. There were some things I didn’t know as a leader but when I heard about DreamsAfrica, I joined because I felt there was more to leadership. I felt that was the place where I was going to groom myself. And when I came here, I learnt so much about leadership. Leadership isn’t really about holding a position; even you leading yourself is leadership. So, everyone is born with leadership potentials...’’ -- Mary-Ann Twum Ampofo, University of Ghana Business School, BSc Administration, Insurance, Level 300.

Mentorship, Character and Leadership
‘‘Hello! I am Adjoa Abbiw, from the University of Ghana Business School, level 300, Accounting Major. I have also been enrolled on the program. I actually got to know about DreamsAfrica through Edem Damanka. He is our TA. He was our TA last Semester and it’s been quite an experience for me. Personally, I am into leadership stuff but I got a new perspective on it. I am able to apply it in everything that I do. And, I will like to recommend DreamsAfrica to everyone out there. Thank you’’

Mentorship, Character and Leadership
‘‘…Before I joined, I had a fair idea about leadership. But when I came here, I have been equipped with knowledge; enough knowledge to give me direction… there are so many seminars you attend and it is the same old story; talking to you about leadership -- you need to do this, you need to do that but they do not really have the time to mentor you… At DreamsAfrica, they are able to reach to us individually. And, that connection really helps you, it encourages you, it makes you feel that you can actually do something. DreamsAfrica is really a gift of leadership that keeps giving… One practical thing I have learnt from DreamsAfrica is to embrace the process. We fall into so many situations when we try to get somewhere. There are so many obstacles in our way. But I have come to understand that it’s all part of the process. It is all part of growing. So, whenever I am faced with a situation, I shouldn’t just lay low … To anyone who is thinking of joining DreamsAfrica it’s the best decision you are ever going to make.’’- -- Mary-Ann Twum Ampofo, University of Ghana Business School, BSc Administration, Insurance, Level 300.

Mentorship, Priorities and Time Management
‘‘Hello! I am Annette Lomotey. A level 300 student of University of Ghana offering BSc. Consumer Science (Family and Child). I was actually invited by the President of DreamsAfrica during the first mentorship program… when I heard of the leadership academy, I was contemplating on whether to join or not because I am someone who cannot handle pressure but after coming for the first training session, I realized that there was more to learn from it… I have met with so many great people and I have really been blessed by their experiences and all… Yes! And I know how to make or set my priorities right… and, also I have learnt to make a plan. And I have been able to discipline myself and actually go by it… at first I thought there was too much for me and I just can’t handle everything. But after joining this training session, I have realized that now I can do so many things in a day just by setting or making a plan… I will advise everyone out there who will also be contemplating to join this group or this organization that… there is more to learn from here and you will really feel blessed from our mentors around… Thank you.’’

Mentorship, Priorities and Time Management
‘‘I’m a member of DreamsAfrica, actually a mentee… I have learnt a lot since I came and I have decided not to leave because as the weeks went on, I learnt more and more. And, It has helped built on my leadership skill. … When I came to DreamsAfrica … I didn’t really have any expectations; I was following someone to DreamsAfrica because the person forced me to come. But, I have actually learnt a lot especially when it comes to goal setting and priority setting. I wasn’t someone who was committed to tasks but as we started this mentorship program, I have learnt to be really committed to these five weeks course… I have learnt to committed. I have learnt to be more orderly, I have learnt to set goals and priorities in their right order… Thank you very much. ---Kevin Asuo, University of Ghana, B.A. Geography and French student, Level 300.’’

Mentorship and Mission Statement
‘‘Hi! My name is Kennedy. I joined DreamsAfrica when they started a seminar. Funny enough! my reason for joining the seminar was just to come and visit a friend but I got glued to what was been shared there. Later on, I just decided to partake in the mentoring training program which I found very encouraging and full of lessons… I remember after a session, I actually decided to walk home because I wanted to brood over everything that was taught… I learnt about how to prepare a mission statement. Initially, I thought I had a daring one but when I saw that of our trainer, I realized it wasn’t audacious enough so I need to reframe mine again… So if you want to learn how to uncover your dreams, how to uncover your purpose on earth, please partake in DreamsAfrica. Thank You.’’

Mentorship and Mission Statement
‘‘Hi! I’m Aba! I am studying BSc Administration, Insurance. I joined DreamsAfrica somewhere last year (2016) and it’s been a wonderful experience. And aside that, I have learnt a lot about potential, I have learnt about my purpose in life, fulfilling my goals, mission statement, vision and, it’s been such a wonderful experience. I have leant so much. For everyone out there, DreamsAfrica is the place to be. If you are a young person discovering yourself, this is the place to be. Come and discover yourself. Mentorship, Public Speaking, Sense of belonging and Network
‘‘Hello! I’m Elizabeth Okine, a level 400 student, reading B.A. Psychology and Archeology in the University of Ghana and, also a mentee of DreamsAfrica. So, I joined DreamsAfrica when I attended a seminar that was in November (2016), and it was a great experience that I was just waiting for them to call on us again to experience such... I have learnt about presentation; I have learnt about public speaking. I have learnt about the need to have a mission statement… I have also learnt about time management, so now I manage my time very well. Also, I have gained the opportunity to connect with a whole lot of people with the team members who are also mentees here, and also mentors. One interesting thing is, when you join DreamsAfrica, you are assigned to a mentor and this mentor become like a friend, a very close friend who is updated with whatever you do and whom you can seek advice… And also, I have learnt about leadership… To know your purpose, to know your potential... so, if you are out there and you don’t know your purpose, you don’t know your potential, you don’t have a mentor, you don’t know which step to take to achieve your career or whatever you want to do in life, come and join DreamsAfrica and we will help you realize your potential, your purpose in life... Thank you’’
